Best workplace practice
This award is open to any programme or initiative that recognises employees as the company’s most important asset. The initiative can range from equal employment practices, to health and safety and team-building exercises. Success will be measured by quantifiable improvements to: working conditions; job creation; employee training provisions; developing products/services with positive local impacts; and infrastructure investments with positive local impacts. How the programme was communicated and how it is sustained within the company will also be considered.
Most ethical & responsible business practice for supply chains
This award recognises companies that apply international ethical standards to their business codes of conduct. Winners in this category will have established policies and guidelines, as well as methods of communicating these policies. Attention will be paid to how these practices have improved standards of living for those suppliers at the end of the supply chain.
Environmental excellence
This award will go to a company that has contributed significantly to the amelioration of the local environment and/or the prevention of environmental deterioration. Entries will be judged on how the company analysed environmental risks to its operations, how it developed clear strategies and objectives to address those risks and how it implemented the ameliorating activity. Judges will be looking for a clear demonstration of how the activity has prevented environment deterioration and/or improved environmental conditions.

Many people equate CSR with investing in community development projects as it is the most visible and immediate corporate contribution to development. This award will recognise the ‘best in class’ community investment based on the number of people benefiting from the investment, extent of community engagement, improvement to quality of life, the sustainability of the project and benefits to both the community and the company.
